The Catfish story

“We just wanted a good local — slinging good booze, without pretension.”

Named after the old 40s number Catfish Blues, we opened on the Carlton Gardens end of Gertrude Street with a simple idea: beer, whisky and blues, all made better when enjoyed together.

Ten years on, we've got twelve taps of independent craft beer, a back bar of local and imported spirits, a covered courtyard, and a stage upstairs that's hosted everyone from touring blues acts to the bravest open-mic comedians in the country.
